My music style:
I make mellow indie acoustic music and try to mix up original songs with catchy pop covers. For my own songs I enjoy lyrics that say what they mean and melodies that capture the emotions I have felt in specific periods of my life. My inspiration is drawn from everything I experience about love, friendships and coming of age.
Why I love making music...
Music, especially singing, has always held a special place in my heart. Growing up, I was the kid who watched Disney movies for the songs, who knew every lyric to her favorite shows and who would be the first in line for choir practice. I was (and still am) endlessly drawn to musicals and the magnificent performances on stage. I just love how music makes me feel when it first captures and then elevates my emotions.
During college I taught myself how to play the guitar with chord books and stubborn patience. Songwriting came later about two years ago. Almost by accident I started to add melodies to some poems I have been writing. I’m still learning every day and enjoy the journey of allowing my creative side to take up more space in my life.
What keeps me hooked about songwriting is the pure process of creation: I love how an empty page evolves into a song that is made up entirely of my own words and thoughts. I feel my songs are very honest and simple. They are build from the moments I carry around and impressions I’ve gathered in the past.
Why I chose Botanista:
I love coming to Botanista for its beautiful and laid back vibes. It’s one of the coziest Cafés in Munich where you can just sit for hours and get lost in thoughts - or meet your friends and sip on a couple of Aperol Spritz’s ;)

Hi, I'm Margot
Age: 31
Hometown: London, UK. Moved to Munich in 2019.
My music style: I play a mix of stripped back acoustic covers and original songs usually from the Pop/Folk genre for Botanista Acoustic Nights but enjoy playing a wide range from Rock to RnB to Country. My original songs express big emotions through catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
Personal fact: I am a classically trained guitarist but I gave up any dream of working as a musician in favour of a stable job. I worked long hours for many years in London with no time for music. It was once I moved to Munich and over lockdown, whilst overcoming depression, that I discovered I could write songs. Since then, I realised music is my purpose in life and I am taking the steps towards becoming a full time singer songwriter.
Why I became a singer... I started training my voice primarily with the goal to do my own songs justice but it is now much more than that. Singing allows me to express myself in ways I cannot do when I am just speaking. I come out of my shell when singing and feel deeply connected to myself and the other people in the room.
My experience at Botanista... Botanista is my favourite place to come to for a coffee. I would often come with friends or alone to collect my thoughts and work quietly. I always thought it would be a lovely place to have live music and was thrilled when the team agreed to trial live music with me. It is magical every time I play here, especially in summer with the beautiful lit up terrace outside.
